About The Role

Role: Senior Asset and Process Improvement Technician

Location: Homebased with site visits approximately 2-3 times per month

Salary: circa £39,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Role Type: Permanent, Full-Time - Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week

Joining the small but mighty Operations Improvement Team, the Senior Technician is responsible for enhancing clean and wastewater processes across our key sites. In this role, you’ll lead improvement projects and initiatives to minimise business risk, while using your analytical skills to influence sound operational decisions. You’ll collaborate with colleagues and contractors to effectively implement improvements safely and be a curious and determined individual with the drive to develop operational improvements.

Candidates will need to be based within our operational area and be prepared to travel to our sites 2-3 times per month with overnight stays as required.  

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing specialist guidance and recommendations for asset and process compliance and improvements
  • Developing dynamic operation and maintenance plans in line with asset risk, performance and cost
  • Providing reactive support to the company by contributing to technical and root cause analysis investigations
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external organisations, contractors and regulators to agree and deliver interventions as required
  • Producing and reviewing reports to a high standard of accuracy to enable informed decision making
What You’ll Bring:
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and environmental compliance
  • Understanding of asset management processes
  • Experience of managing contractors delivering asset improvements
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of the commercial impacts of improvement initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) that enable information to be shared effectively amongst different audiences
  • A general level of IT literacy to include bespoke applications and MS Office is essential – the ability to use Excel and PowerBi is desirable 
  • Experience of working directly with the Environment Agency, understanding Permits to Discharge (wastewater and surface water), trade effluent consents and a working knowledge of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 and the Water Framework Directive would be a distinct advantage

Due to the nature of sites on which we operate, the successful candidate must:

  • Have lived continuously within the UK for at least the last 5 years
  • Be able to obtain Security Clearance which involves a Criminal Record Check and a full MoD Security Application and associated verification processes
  • Possess a full, valid driving licence and be comfortable driving a van
  • You will be required to attend a variety of sites and there will be infrequent overnight stays as required
