Multi-Skilled Technician (Mechanical & Electrical)
Location: South-West, Field-Based
Salary: circa £40,000 per annum (DOE) plus stand-by allowance
Role Type: Permanent, Full-Time, 37 hours per week

As part of our front-line operation, our Multi-Skilled Technicians are responsible for ensuring the PPM and reactive work of our mechanical and electrical assets is completed to a high standard for both clean and wastewater sites. This is a customer facing role based in/around Cornwall and Devon areas and we are looking for candidates based ideally, but not limited to, the Exeter, Plymouth, Bodmin or Okehampton areas which will give you a good base for this field-based role. This role includes mobile working, working with minimal supervision in remote geographical locations and participating in a Standby rota one week in four. What You’ll Be Doing:
- Completing Planned & Reactive Electrical and Mechanical tasks within timescale, quality and cost parameters
- Building and developing relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers and sub-contractors
- Working to improve the value, performance and overall service of the M&E Team
- Identifying follow-on work after completing planned or reactive tasks
- Working in a lean manner to minimise travel time and disruption to our customers
- Conducting risk assessments and creating method statements where required to safely carry out maintenance activities
What You’ll Bring:
- 18th Edition / C&G Level 3 / Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent time-served experience
- A background within an industrial asset maintenance setting is crucial for this role
- Ability to read panel drawings and fault find single or three-phase systems
- Experience with inverters, motors and star delta system
- Self-motivation with the desire to contribute positively and productively to the South-West M&E team
- Strong communication skills to allow you to keep colleagues and customers informed of job progress
- Willingness to take part in a regional on-call rota to provide out of hours response and support to customers
- Comfortable working under minimal supervision and travelling to sites in your area as required
- Ability to work as a problem solver who can respond well to conflicting and changing priorities
About you:
Due to the nature of sites on which we operate, the successful candidate must:
- Meet the security clearance requirements for the role which includes, but is not limited to, the successful candidate being a full-time resident of the UK for the past 5 years’
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance which involves a Criminal Record Check and a full MoD Security Application and associated verification processes
- You must have a full, valid driving licence and be comfortable driving a van (company van provided)
